Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Mason Mount in a \u00a360m deal from Chelsea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount is Erik ten Hag\u2019s first signing of the summer as the Dutchman looks to build on a promising first season at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018I am hugely ambitious,\u2019 said England international Mount. \u2018I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United recovered from a dismal start to the 2022-23 campaign to finish third in the Premier League and qualify for next season\u2019s Champions League, while they lifted their first trophy since 2017 by winning the EFL Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount, who joined Chelsea at the age of six, attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool as well as United as his contract at Stamford Bridge ran down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Manchester United have won the race to sign the talented England midfielder after agreeing to pay Chelsea \u00a355m plus \u00a35m in add-ons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United confirmed the deal on Wednesday morning, posting a short video on Twitter of the 24-year-old pulling on the club\u2019s new home kit alongside the caption: \u2018The excitement is mounting.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chelsea were reluctant to lose Mount \u2013 especially to a direct rival \u2013 but decided to sell this summer rather than risk losing the 24-year-old for nothing when his contract was due to expire in 12 months\u2019 time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount made 195 appearances for Chelsea \u2013 scoring 33 goals \u2013 and helped his boyhood club win the Champions League in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been capped 36 times by England and was part of Gareth Southgate\u2019s squad for last year\u2019s World Cup in Qatar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount was the subject of three unsuccessful bids from Manchester United before Chelsea finally agreed a deal worth \u00a360m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Vitesse and Derby County loanee leaves Stamford Bridge just as Mauricio Pochettino takes over as Chelsea\u2019s sixth permanent manager in five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount was one of several Chelsea players to struggle last season as the Blues finished just 12th in the Premier League, closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League places.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
